Stearns Bank Eliminates ATM Fees Nationwide, Letting Customers Keep More of Their Money

(KNSI) — Stearns Bank customers will keep more of their money, as the company announced that, effective immediately, it will no longer charge ATM fees for its deposit customers nationwide.

This new policy stands regardless of network or account type, and no minimum balance is required.

Previously, Stearns Bank customers had access to over 40,000 fee-free ATMs through the MoneyPass Network. Now, the bank has expanded this benefit to include all domestic ATMs.

Many who do business and travel across the country, live and work in rural communities, or are also global and mobile. We know our customers work hard for their money and believe they should have free, convenient access to their funds wherever they travel and do business,” said Kelly Skalicky, President & CEO of Stearns Bank. “While many mega big-box banks tout a ‘network’ of their bank-branded ATMs or others join ATM networks to provide fee-free or low-fee access to a limited number of ATMs, many customers are forced to hunt for those specific in-network ATMs to avoid additional service fees. This change comes as Bankrate reports the average out-of-network ATM fee has risen to $4.77 in 2024, highlighting the significance of the benefit for its customers.

While some financial services institutions may charge additional fees for using their bank-branded ATMs, on top of ATM-owner fees, Stearns Bank will waive all related fees for its customers at any ATM across the country. Additionally, Stearns Bank customers can use the Bank’s real-time ATM locator tool to find and use any ATM across the nation fee-free.
