(KNSI) – A 61-year-old man is dead following a crash on Interstate 94 late Thursday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol’s preliminary report, just before midnight, a 29-year-old man from Faribault was driving a Freightliner semi truck east on I-94 when it jackknifed about two miles east of Clearwater. Thomas Pearson of Monticello was behind the wheel of a Honda Ridgeline and crashed into the trailer of the rig before the SUV was hit by a semi driven by a 41-year-old New York man. That semi then rolled into the cable median barrier.

Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene. The two truck drivers were not hurt. Roads were covered with snow and ice at the time of the crash.
