(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Patrol says statewide on Thursday, there were 762 crashes, spinouts and vehicles off the road on Thursday, as the area saw the biggest snowfall of the season in many places.

Of those crashes, 38 involved injuries and one was fatal. That crash happened just before midnight on eastbound Interstate 94, two miles east of Clearwater. There were also 37 jackknifed semis reported.

The snow blanketed several spots with upward of five, six, and even seven inches. Around central Minnesota, 4.4″ was reported around St. Cloud State University. Just north of Kimball, they saw half a foot. Out toward Melrose saw 5″. Near Sartell, 4.5″ was reported.

Several school districts either called in two hours late or, like Kimball and Annandale, closed for the day altogether.

For those dreaming of a white Christmas, they just may get it. We’re entering a quieter weather pattern now, with temps in the 20s and 30s for the next few days. It should be smooth sailing for anyone traveling around the area, as there is no snow in the forecast for the next seven days.
