(KNSI) – Exciting news for the nearly 300,000 Minnesotans leasing an apartment or home as they will no longer have to wait until the summer for part of their tax refund.
Starting in 2025, renters will now file for their renter’s credit on the Minnesota Individual Income Tax return instead of filing a separate form. This means they will no longer need to wait to get the refund later in the year. Renters will get the payment with their income tax return.
When filing 2024 taxes, renters should include the certificate of rent paid document they get from their landlord.
This change does not affect homeowners.
