(KNSI) – Be the anti(freeze) hero on January 4th when the City of St. Cloud debuts its Eras Swiftie Skate event.
It’s free at Lake George beginning at 4:30 p.m. Officials hope that you dress up in an outfit inspired by the pop icon. It will be a perfect night to sing along to Taylor Swift’s extensive catalog of hits, maybe even make a request. On top of the fun on the ice, there will be a chance to make friendship bracelets and enjoy hot chocolate and popcorn. Skates will be available to rent, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own.
The Swiftie Skate is one of a slew of special events being hosted in January and February by the St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department. Ages 10 and up are invited to learn how to snowshoe. There are two sessions, one on the last Saturday of each month, at Riverside Park. The classes are being kept to a 20-person limit, so pre-registration is required.
For those who already know the ins and outs of snowshoeing, bring them to the Winter Chill on January 18th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Riverside Park. Volunteers will teach Nordic skiing, and of course, the sledding hill will be busy. Organizers are also planning arts and crafts activities, snow painting, and more. No registration is required.
If you can’t get enough of being outdoors at Riverside Park, take advantage of Skiing/Sledding/Snowshoeing Sundays. They run once a week between January 5th and February 23rd from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
