(KNSI) — Teens and tweens may be getting their first phones or tablets for Christmas, and next month, there will be a training course on online safety and what to watch out for.
The training is through the Expanding Child Abuse Prevention Project, a program of the Zero Abuse Project. It’s called Navigating the Virtual Playground: Healthy Choices and Worrisome Pitfalls for Today’s Youth. It is set for January 27th and is aimed at parents and those in organizations serving kids. It will cover trends in online behaviors students are facing and highlight practical positive ways for adults to respond.
It is being led by Alison Feigh who has been working in the sexual abuse prevention field for more than 15 years and is the Director of the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center. She trains people both locally and nationally, covering subjects around abductions and child abuse prevention.
The training is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Foley High School. Anyone with questions can email cpausch@ci.foley.mn.us. Click here to find a QR code to RSVP.
