(KNSI) — A Wright County man is facing 12 felonies after the Department of Revenue says he failed to file income tax returns for six years.
According to the complaint, from 2018 through 2023, Philip Daniel Swafford didn’t file or pay taxes, even though investigators say he made enough money from his business, Mobile 1 Auto Glass, and gambling winnings to be required to file but intentionally avoided doing so. He reportedly admitted to knowingly blowing it off, and now he owes over $172,000 in back taxes, penalties, and interest.
The Wright County Attorney’s Office charged Swafford with six counts of failing to file income tax returns and another six counts of not paying income taxes. If convicted, each felony charge could lead to up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
