(KNSI) — A St. Cloud psychologist is among four medical professionals being recognized for their work in greater Minnesota.
Thursday is Rural Health Day, and in honor of that, the Minnesota Department of Health has announced this year’s best caregivers. Dr. John Schmitz is among them. He practices at CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital’s behavioral health clinic inside CentraCare Plaza.
Schmitz has received a Minnesota Rural Health Hero Provider Award for his work in the region’s behavioral services. According to MDH, he is being recognized for his dedication as director of behavioral health and his clinical efforts as a psychiatrist. Officials say he brings wellness, dignity and care to the most vulnerable.
Schmitz and the three other winners will be recognized in June at a conference in Duluth.
