(KNSI) – Two central Minnesota organizations are getting a boost to help aging residents stay at home.
Benedictine Living Community in Cold Spring and Helping Hands Outreach in Holdingford are among 30 groups sharing $6 million. The Live Well at Home grants will partially fund efforts to retrofit homes to make them age-friendly and provide support for caregivers.
The Benedictine Living Community, formerly Assumption Community Services, was awarded $95,000 to expand transportation services for people in wheelchairs throughout rural Stearns County and the St. Cloud metro area.
Helping Hands got a $50,000 grant to help older residents to live independently at home. The project will recruit volunteers to deliver free services, support family caregivers and reduce social isolation for those living in Benton, Morrison, and Stearns counties.
