(KNSI) – A Stearns County commissioner is being honored for decades of work improving public infrastructure.

The Minnesota Transportation Alliance recognized Joe Perske for advocating for several St. Cloud area projects. The organization cites Perske’s involvement with Interstate 94 improvements, the expansion of Highway 23 to four lanes, the development of the St. Cloud beltway proposal along with a Mississippi River crossing near 33rd Street South, and the extension of the Northstar Rail for the award. Kandiyohi County Commissioner Roger Imdieke nominated him.

Another factor in Perske’s choice as the Transportation Advocate Award recipient is his participation in seven committees and organizations focused on infrastructure in the region. Perske has also worked as a lobbyist in St. Paul and Washington, D.C.
