(KNSI) – Minnesota’s jobs picture was flat in October.
The state’s Department of Employment and Economic Development says there were 1,000 job cuts, which were almost perfectly offset by an upward revision of 1,100 to the September figure. The unemployment and labor force participation rates stayed the same over the period.
Minnesota’s overall employment picture continues to be rosier than the national average. Our jobless rate of 3.4% is below the national average of 4.1%. At 67.7%, the percentage of eligible adults employed in the state is well above the 62.7% for the country as a whole.
Statewide, Minnesota added 33,257 positions in the past year, a gain of 1.1%. St. Cloud is lagging behind that at 824 jobs, or 0.8% growth over that same time period.
DEED highlighted two large expansions, Sofidel in Duluth and Solventum in Eagan, as signs that the labor market is on the right track.
