(KNSI) — Travelers heading over the river and through the woods for their annual holiday gatherings may see some extra green in their pockets thanks to lower gas prices.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas statewide is around $2.95, which is well below the national average of $3.08. At this time last year, gas was about $3.22 a gallon.
Around St. Cloud, we are seeing some of the lowest gas prices. As of Tuesday morning, a gallon of regular unleaded cost an average of $2.82, down two cents from Monday and eight cents from a week ago. Even though the statewide average was $3.22 last year, around here, drivers were paying just $3.08.
Stearns County is among just over a dozen with some of the cheapest gas prices, between $2.59 and $2.69 a gallon.
