(KNSI) – A local seat in the Minnesota State House of Representatives is headed for a recount.
Unofficial results show District 14B Republican Candidate Sue Ek losing to incumbent Democrat Dan Wolgamott by 28 votes. With 100% of precincts reporting, Ek was leading by four votes. Then, within ten minutes, around 80 more votes were added to the total, putting Wolgamott over the top.
Ek told KNSI she’s waiting for an explanation on why the totals changed. “It was bizarre. I mean, our party went nuts, when I won, and it was so exciting. And then all of a sudden, the change. So that’s what we need to uncover, is what the heck happened?”
Ek says they’re waiting for the election to be certified and then begin going through the ballots. “The ballot canvasing will happen November 21st, from what I understand. And the recount will start early December, probably December 2nd.”
Ek still considers herself a candidate and is asking her supporters to keep her yard signs out as a show of support. On Wednesday, Wolgamott declared victory.
