(KNSI) – The Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum is debuting a Veterans Day film festival Monday afternoon in Little Falls.
Six short movies will play across the 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, and 7:00 p.m. hours. The salute to Minnesota veterans covers World War II, Vietnam, Operation Enduring Freedom, and profiles of General John Vessey and Lieutenant Colonel Hortense McKay. Vessey was a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. McKay served as a nurse on the frontlines in the Pacific and was honored posthumously with the Congressional Gold Medal.
The Veterans Day Film Festival—A Salute To Veterans is free and is being put on in conjunction with the Lakeland and Pioneer Public Television chapters of PBS.
The Falls Theatre is a historic Art Deco venue that was just restored. Originally built in 1933, it gives the perfect ambiance of old-school Americana to highlight heroism and military accomplishments that shaped our state. An opportunity will be available at Ciao Thyme restaurant next door for festival goers to enjoy dinner at 6:00 p.m.
The event is one of many being organized off-site by the museum during construction. Crews broke ground on a new facility in September 2023. You can learn more about the progress here.
