(KNSI) – Minnesotans have approved a constitutional amendment to renew state lottery funds for outdoor conservation and preservation efforts.
Voters overwhelmingly supported the amendment. The results mean cash will continue flowing into the projects until 2050, at a pace of about $160 million a year.
In 1998, voters said yes to sending 40% of proceeds from the Minnesota State Lottery to the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund, which has invested more than $1 billion in funding for the conservation and preservation of land, fish and wildlife, lakes and streams and hiking trails.
