(KNSI) – Help fill the bellies of central Minnesotans in need at the 12th annual We Are Thankful-Kids Fighting Hunger food packaging event.

United Way of Central Minnesota/Facebook

The two nonprofits help families dealing with food insecurity. They’ve teamed up with the United Way to put together easy-to-make meals. Organizers need 600 people to package more than 120,000 oatmeal and rice meals, distributed to food shelves in Albany, Big Lake, Buffalo, Elk River, St. Cloud, Monticello, Cold Spring, St. Joseph, and Zimmerman. So far, they have 312 volunteers.

The event will take place on Sunday, November 17th, at the River’s Edge Convention Center in downtown St. Cloud. Three volunteer shifts are available, starting at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m.

According to the United Way, it’s a great opportunity for families, adults and children to come together and do some good in the community. Nonperishable food items will also be collected. Donations are needed to help pay for supplies. They recommend giving $15 for kids and $30 for adults.
