(KNSI) — An AMBER Alert has been canceled by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, after a missing pregnant woman and her four kids were found safe Friday morning, and the man accused of abducting them is in custody.
The BCA says authorities caught up with 35-year-old Chad Aanerud in Morrison County and arrested him roughly two hours after the alert went out.
According to the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Aanerud showed up at a home northeast of Brainerd just after 1:45 where 33-year-old Nikkole Dobson and her kids, 14-year-old Brandon, 11-year-old Haley, seven-year-old Gracie and three-year-old Chloe, were staying. Aanerud fired a rifle round into the ceiling of the home and forced them all to leave with him. He is also suspected of fatally shooting another man nearby and burning down a home on that property.
Police say Dobson and the kids are all safe. They thanked everyone who helped find them.
