(KNSI) – As families leave Saturday’s Kids and Parents Expo at the River’s Edge Convention Center, there are plenty of opportunities downtown for Halloween fun.

Green Thumb owner Ashley Green is organizing a group of roughly 15 businesses along West St. Germain and over to Beaver Island Brewing that will pass out candy beginning at noon. It lasts until the treats run out.

Green laughs about her initial try at the idea. “The first year, I grossly underestimated how much candy I needed, and after about 45 minutes I had a panicked call going out to try and get some candy replacements happening.”

Green loves to see families have fun together downtown and hopes that will be the case more often once the Great River Children’s Museum opens in early 2025. She expects the tried and true costumes to be common sights again for this year’s Halloween Walk.

“Superheroes are popular. We’ve had a lot of the Disney characters, still. Pixar characters, that kind of stuff. Lots of the inflatable dinosaurs.”

The Kids and Parents Expo begins at 9:00 a.m. It is organized by Leighton Events. Tickets are only $10 for adults. Children under 12 get in free.
