(KNSI) — The Stearns-Benton Toward Zero Death Chapter will take Pineview Elementary School students to Safety Town on Tuesday, October 29th.

Organizers are targeting third graders at the school. The coalition uses the demonstration to simulate a real-world city environment for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. It features a mini city layout built to the scale of a child. The demonstration aims to teach kids how to navigate a city environment without getting hurt. Students will learn how to walk and ride their bikes safely, develop positive behaviors at a young age and build a culture of traffic safety.

Volunteers are needed for the event. Setup will start on Monday, October 28th, inside the gym at 1:30 p.m. The demonstrations are scheduled to begin the next morning at 8:50. There are five classes, and each will get 25 to 30 minutes to go through Safety Town.

Tear down should begin around 10:55 a.m. Organizers say they are working hard now to time out the event so it runs smoothly and every kid can get through each demonstration.
