(KNSI) – Today is Columbus Day, a federal holiday with fewer disruptions when compared to many others.

There is no mail today, but UPS and FedEx are operating as usual. State courts are open, but U.S. District Court is out of session. State, county and city government offices are open as are most banks, and the stock market. Gas stations, grocery and drug stores will be operating under normal hours.

Parking meters will be enforced, and drivers must pay to park in the lots and ramps in St. Cloud.

The State of Minnesota and some cities have declared today Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Approximately 29 states and Washington, D.C. do not celebrate Columbus Day. About 216 cities have renamed it or replaced it with Indigenous Peoples’ Day, according to renamecolumbusday.org.
