(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University will hold its largest open house of the year next weekend, welcoming prospective students to campus.

While tours are available at any time, the school traditionally runs a large event during Minnesota State Month, a recruitment initiative for dozens of universities and colleges system-wide. It’s known as Discover Red & Black, and it features a resource fair with all six colleges and schools participating.

High school students are off due to MEA weekend, and if they aren’t going on a trip, it’s the perfect time to contemplate the next step in their education. Any students participating get free admission to a sporting event, which includes soccer, hockey, or volleyball matches.

SCSU’s overall enrollment has dropped in the past decade, forcing it to slash the number of programs offered. The student population has stabilized recently, and events like Discover Red and Black are crucial in helping that cause.
