(KNSI) – St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis will take a bow on his roughly two-decade-long tenure late this year.

City officials want you to save the date on Tuesday, December 3rd, at the Rivers Edge Convention Center. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. No word if there are plans to present him with a gold watch or, perhaps more appropriately, a key to the city.

Kleis was first chosen in 2005. Afterward, the city shifted to a schedule that coincided with the presidential election cycle. Voters went with Kleis again in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020. He ran unopposed in three of his final four contests.

Kleis announced in April that he would be stepping down. City council members Jake Anderson and Mike Conway are running to replace him. They advanced out of a crowded primary field of six candidates.
