(KNSI) – The sprinkler system of an apartment building kept flames in check Wednesday until the St. Cloud Fire Department could arrive.

The incident happened at a building on the 3400 block of 22nd Street South just before noon. The SCFD was called out due to a general fire alarm and found a third-story apartment unit with damage.

A Critical Incident Report specifically cites the sprinklers as a reason for the blaze’s minimal impact. The crew confirmed that everyone living at the apartment was safe and quickly extinguished the fire. They also made sure that family belongings of any sentimental value were protected.
