(KNSI) — The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows that 80% of Minnesota is experiencing some sort of drought.

The stretch of warm, dry, summer-like weather has contributed to the dry conditions. It doesn’t look like Mother Nature will give us a hand anytime soon, either. According to the Climate Prediction Centers’ eight to 14-day outlook, temperatures will stay above normal, while chances for rain will be below normal.

Locally, Stearns and Wright Counties and half of Benton County are considered abnormally dry. Sherburne County is experiencing little to no drought.

Elsewhere, all of Carlton and Cook, most of Lake and more than half of St. Louis Counties are in a moderate drought, as are several counties in the southwestern part of Minnesota.

This compares to last week, when around 30% of the state was abnormally dry. Three months ago, there was no drought at all.
