(KNSI)—The color change is starting to pick up steam, though it still trails the pace of recent years.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources map shows 25-50% of peak in Kandiyohi and western Stearns Counties. That’s based on observations at Sibley State Park that were taken on the 22nd. Even with near-record highs gripping the area for the next several days, there may have been some progression since then.

The area along the North Dakota border is also at 25-50%, along with the extreme northwoods and much of the Arrowhead. Near Gooseberry Falls State Park is the only spot at 50-75% of peak in the state.

There is still a persistent arc of land from along the St. Croix River through St. Cloud and down into the Minnesota River Valley towards Mankato where almost no change has been observed.

According to the agency’s projections, the St. Cloud region will still reach its peak around October 14th.
