(KNSI) – Pollinators are looking to get by with a little HELP from their friends.

The Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources recently awarded $3.4 million in Habitat Enhancement Landscape Program grants to 12 organizations across the state, including the Stearns County Soil and Water Conservation District.

HELP is designed to restore natural habitats for bees, butterflies, dragonflies, fireflies, and other animals that play a key role in helping flowers transfer pollen and reproduce. The funds will help carry out prescribed burns to allow the land to be reseeded with native species. Other work covered includes converting turf grasses to native grasses and herbs in city parks.
