(KNSI) – The St. Cloud City Council could set a date to hold a public hearing on restricting where sex offenders can live, adding infrastructure for the future of car travel, and holding a public hearing on a medical campus project.
CentraCare is seeking the final plat approval to allow construction of a 170,000-square-foot addition, a 60,000-square-foot new building, and a 95-unit multi-family building on the CentraCare Plaza campus. The project is part of bringing a medical school to central Minnesota. City staff recommends approval of the plan.
The city will also accept bids to build a new electric charging station near Highway 15 and 23. St. Cloud will install two high-speed DC charging stations. Both standard plug types will be provided to allow virtually all types of EV vehicles to connect. Erickson Electric Company of St. Cloud submitted the low bid of $57,987.44. This is 21.5% over the final engineer’s estimate of $47,712.00. The city has a $200,000 grant and will make up the difference.
The council is also planning to set a date for a public hearing on where level three predatory offenders can live in the city. The idea is to keep the most dangerous offenders a reasonable distance away from places where children gather, such as schools, parks and places of worship. If approved, the public hearing would be held on October 7th.
The meeting will begin Monday at 6:00 p.m.
