(KNSI) – Minnesota’s Sixth District Congressman Tom Emmer has been chosen to help Ohio Senator JD Vance get ready for the upcoming vice presidential debate next month.

Emmer will play the role of Governor Tim Walz.

Walz, a former Congressman, served in the state’s First District at the same time as Emmer represented the Sixth before Walz was elected to the governor’s office. House Majority Whip Emmer has called the Democratic vice presidential nominee a radical progressive, saying he and presidential candidate Kamala Harris are weak cowards for hiding from the media.

The debate will be October 1st in New York and hosted by CBS News. It will be moderated by CBS News managing editor Norah O’Donnell and CBS News foreign affairs correspondent and Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan. Start time is 8:00 p.m. Central. The debate will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network. It will also be live streamed on CBS News 24/7 and Paramount+.
