(KNSI) – A contractor was seriously injured Friday morning working at the Waters Church near Sartell.

At 11:00, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a 32-year-old Willmar man pinned underneath a beam that weighed 10,000 pounds. Jesus Adrian Garza was operating a scissor lift as other workers slowly lowered the beam. Garza was responsible for the cribbing, temporary equipment that bears heavy weight until construction is finished. The beam began to shift as it was lowered, and eventually toppled over, landing on Garza’s legs.

Sartell Fire/Rescue and the contracting crew worked together to free Garza. He was taken to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance for treatment. His condition is not known.
