(KNSI) – The Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation has selected the winners of this year’s Public Safety Awards.

The Freeport Fire and Rescue Department will receive the Department of the Year Award. Freeport Mayor Mike Eveslage nominated it for excellence in serving an 84-square-mile area and community involvement.

There are three winners of the Outstanding Contribution to Public Safety Awards. One will go to Waite Park’s Scheel’s location for its support area law enforcement by donating public safety equipment. St. Cloud Police Officer Nicholas Tylutki is being recognized for his professionalism and compassion in managing pedestrian safety concerns in St. Cloud. The last winner is Rockville Fire Chief Rodney Schaefer for his years of exceptional dedication, leadership and service.

A Life-Saving Award will be presented to members of the St. Joseph Police Department, the fire department, Mayo Ambulance and Little Saints Academy staff for their response to a medical emergency.

The awards will be presented on October 25th at the third annual First Responder Appreciation Dinner, hosted by the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation, at the Park Event Center in Waite Park.
