(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Public Safety issued over 68,000 tickets during the summer Click-It or Ticket campaign.

Between May 1st and September 2nd, law enforcement from 259 agencies across the state cited drivers for speed. During the four months of extra enforcement, 58 agencies had speeders clocked at more than 100 mph. The Minnesota State Patrol Office in St. Cloud busted one driver going 126 mph. The same district wrote 5,296 tickets.

During the Labor Day DWI campaign between August 16th and September 2nd, officers made 1,235 arrests for driving impaired. The local state patrol made 15 DWI arrests, and the St. Cloud Police Department made 13, including one driver whose preliminary blood test registered .28, more than three times the legal limit.

The MDPS reports that 322 people have died on Minnesota roads this year, an 11% increase compared to 2023. Speed is the number one contributing factor in fatal crashes.
