(KNSI) – The St. Cloud School Board unanimously approved the proposed 2024-2025 school budget with a slight bump.

District 742 Controller David Cooney presented to the board on Wednesday night and explained what the levy covers. “There are three huge components to the levy, [the] general fund, which is the largest, community education and debt service.”

The proposed budget for this fiscal year is $35,290,109.01, up $1,239,543.29 compared to last year. Cooney told the board that’s about what they expected. “Overall, this is about a 3.6% increase year over year, and that is in line with our prior year.”

The change is mostly due to employee compensation and the results of inflation. The budget will be finalized at the December 18th school board meeting. It cannot be increased from what was set but could be decreased.
