(KNSI) – New Munich is one of 31 cities, townships, and counties chosen for a Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Small Cities Development Program grant.

It will receive $445,625 to rehab 11 rental properties and 10 single-family homes. DEED Commissioner Matt Varilek says the SCDP “ensures Minnesotans have access to funding that can create a safe and stable living environment, no matter where they are in Minnesota.”

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development but is administered by the state. Cities with fewer than 50,000 people and counties with fewer than 200,000 residents are eligible.

In total, DEED awarded $20.8 million in grants for 2024.
