(KNSI) — Sartell Police Chief Brandon Silgjord has been honored as one of the 2024 International Association of Chiefs of Police Top 40 Under 40.

The global recognition goes to the top 40 law enforcement professionals under 40.

Silgjord told KNSI News it was a “humbling moment to just receive the award, and a little bit taken back, super honored. I maybe didn’t fully realize the impact I had on the people around me in the community and the initiatives we got going.”

IACP highlighted Silgjord’s work in helping to create a countywide mental health co-response model, including a 24-hour crisis response team. He also participated in a statewide mental health campaign to bring awareness and resources to first responders suffering from PTSD and brought back the K9 program, which includes patrol and therapy K9s. Silgjord oversaw an intelligence sharing and mapping system across multiple jurisdictions, worked to increase recruitment and has taught academy and college courses on policing.

Silgjord explained he couldn’t have done the work without the support of the public and the city. “A huge thank you to my staff and to the citizens of Sartell. Obviously an award like this isn’t even possible if they hadn’t entrusted me to be a chief and to lead in the community like that. So that’s that’s near and dear to my heart.”

City Administrator Anna Gruber nominated him.

Silgjord will be presented with the award on October 22nd during the annual IACP conference in Boston.
