Open House and Information Session for New St. Cloud Fire Station Tuesday Afternoon

(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Fire Department is holding an open house and informational session Tuesday to convince residents to vote yes in November to build a sixth fire station.

The next meeting is Tuesday, September 17th, at 5:00 p.m. at the proposed site for the new station on the corner of 33rd Street South and County Road 74 near Stride Academy. This session will coincide with a mayor’s town hall. Attendees will hear a presentation on the proposed new station and ask questions.

Voters are being asked to support a new $43.5 million station and training facility. If approved on the November ballot, it would cost the average St. Cloud homeowner $9 a month over the next 20 years.

Officials say another fire station will cut response times across the city and lower homeowner insurance rates for nearby residents. Its location would also put it in the growing area close to St. Cloud Tech High School, Stride Academy and Athlos Academy.

Other tours and informational sessions are set for:

October 1st at 10:00 a.m. at Fire Station Two (727 Anderson Avenue)

October 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Fire Station Five (3850 Clearwater Road)

October 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Fire Station Three during the Fire Prevention Week Open House (1201 University Drive Southeast)
