(KNSI) – The Tri-County Humane Society hopes you fall in love with a shelter dog this weekend.

Marketing Manager Kate Kompas says the summer is always a busy time for cats, but animals of all stripes tend to come into the humane society in fits and starts. That’s what they’re seeing now. “It’s normal ebb and flow. We go through periods of where, you know, there’s fewer animals, and then all of a sudden, there’s a ton. I wouldn’t say it’s timed with anything as far as this point in the year. It’s pretty typical that it goes up and down.”

An overflow crowd of four-legged friends means great deals for someone looking to adopt a pet. Until this Sunday, fees will be cut in half for all dogs six months and older. If you plan to adopt a cat, you’re also in luck. For friendly felines one year or older, the shelter is running a “Name Your Own Price” promotion. Kittens are 50% off.

Tri-County Humane Society has no time limit for the pets there to find their forever home, but if there’s no space, they cannot take in new animals. That’s why it wants to rehome its current shelter dogs as quickly as possible.
