(KNSI) – It’s humans only this month for the St. Cloud Police Dog Walker Watch meeting.

The SCPD is hosting pet owners, along with friends and family, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on September 24th at police headquarters, 101 11th Avenue North. The highlight will be a tour of the facility.

There is no cost, but you need to register. A link is here.

Dog Walker Watch is a community policing program with a local chapter started earlier this year in St. Cloud. It has been adopted in cities across the country. It’s based on the idea that with 62 million dog owners in the U.S., they represent a lot of eyes who are moving through neighborhoods at all times of the day. You can be a great asset in catching criminals in the act.

The program helps you detect illegal behavior and also goes through when to report it to the police or various city officials instead. You also learn how to prevent certain crimes, particularly burglary.
