(KNSI) – The 2024 Minnesota State Fair is history and also made some history in the process.

According to fair officials, 1,925,904 people passed through the gates during the 12-day run. That’s just over 90,000 more than in 2023 but 200,000 fewer than the all-time record of 2,126,551 set in 2019.

Speaking of records, five attendance records were set this year: opening day and the first Friday, the first Wednesday, the second Friday and Labor Day weekend Sunday. That day, over 256,000 people packed into the fairgrounds.

Two days, the first Monday and the second Thursday, saw fewer than 82,000 people pass through the gates. The first Monday, excessive heat warnings had been posted, and the fair ended with a bang – literally – as severe thunderstorms plowed across Minnesota, including the fairgrounds. Thursday was the same story, only the storms struck in the late afternoon.

The 2025 Minnesota State Fair is set for August 21st through September 1st.
