(KNSI) – During the 12th annual Get Youth Outdoors Day in Clear Lake, boys and girls in central Minnesota can learn about hunting and fishing.

Volunteers trained in firearms safety will provide hands-on instruction in sporting clays, shooting, archery, and fishing. After the event, all registered kids will receive a free fishing rod and reel to wet a line. The program is open to kids between nine and seventeen years old.

It is a free event with all supplies provided at no charge, including a picnic lunch.

The event is Sunday, from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m., at the Wild Marsh Sporting Clays Shooting Facility, 13481 County Road 3 Southeast, Clear Lake.

According to a press release, the event will help promote the importance of educating a future generation of American hunters and recreational shooters from diverse communities and backgrounds.
