(KNSI) – One of the most ferocious animals on Earth is showing off its cute and cuddly side here in Minnesota.

As William Blake once wrote about the tiger:
“What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

“In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?”

The Amur, or Siberian tiger, is one of the largest species of the majestic animals. It is the epitome of fierceness. The Como Zoo announced this week that for the first time in over 40 years, a new pair of babies was born in capitivity at the St. Paul facility, showing a different aspect of the animals.

The first video footage of the cubs, one boy and one girl, is as adorable as you would expect. Both seem to be in great health and are currently nursing with mom.

The births are significant because the Siberian tiger is endangered. The species is found in a small territory in northeastern China and eastern Russia. Males can grow to an incredible 675 pounds. By comparison, lions average only 420 pounds.
