(KNSI) — Coborn’s Inc. is teaming up with the Folds of Honor Foundation to raise money for scholarships to be awarded to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled first responders and service members.

Throughout September, customers at Coborn’s and Cash Wise Foods grocery and liquor stores can round up their purchases to the nearest dollar or make donations of $1, $5, or $10 at checkout. All contributions go to Folds of Honor.

“We are honored to collaborate with the Coborn’s family of stores,” said Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney, CEO and founder of Folds of Honor. “This partnership will amplify our mission, increase awareness of Folds of Honor, and boost scholarship funding for the families of American military and first responder heroes. Together, we will bring hope in the face of sacrifice.”

Lt. Col. Rooney, a decorated F-16 fighter pilot, started Folds of Honor in 2007. In 2022, its mission expanded to include first responders such as police, fire, EMTs, and paramedics, with minority recipients representing 45% of all scholarships awarded. The organization has awarded more than 52,000 scholarships, totaling approximately $244 million.

“The bravery shown by these men and women from our communities is truly inspiring. We can never fully repay their sacrifice,” said Dennis Host, senior vice president of marketing and communications for Coborn’s, Inc. “We are proud to partner with Folds of Honor for the second consecutive year and support the meaningful work they do for the families of our community and national heroes.”
