(KNSI) – The University of Minnesota Medical School has revealed the two leaders who will chart the course for the new St. Cloud campus.

The local facility will focus on rural medicine practiced throughout Greater Minnesota. Dr. Chris Fallert has been selected as regional campus dean. He is an MD who has been with the medical school since 2008 as family medicine faculty at the Woodwinds Hospital Family Residency Program. Dr. Fallert has trained physicians who now practice across the state.

Dr. Jill Amsberry has been tapped as assistant dean of undergraduate medical education. She is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine who has worked as a pediatrician at CentraCare for 13 years. Dr. Amsberry says, “With this new Medical School campus, we aim to build on the strong traditions of the Twin Cities and Duluth campuses through a commitment to advancing evidence-based medical education and enhancing rural health outcomes. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where students, faculty and staff can collaborate to address the unique opportunities presented in our rural regions.”

They will work alongside CentraCare president and chief executive officer Ken Holmen. The first class will crack open textbooks in the fall of 2025. Each class will consist of 24 students, expanding the medical school’s overall size by 10%.
