(KNSI) – Morrison County saw its ninth reported ATV accident of the year on Monday.

Just after 9:20 p.m., deputies responded to a crash about a mile east of Harding. Officials say 36-year-old Cory Liodolt of Pierz was driving a side-by-side on a paved road when he lost control, veered into the south ditch, and rolled the vehicle. His injuries were severe enough that he had to be airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

Sheriff Shawn Larsen says alcohol was likely a factor. He reflects on the rash of incidents, three of which have involved fatalities. Larsen urges all drivers to listen to safety tips on operating ATVs and make sure they are following the law.

Mayo Clinic Ambulance, North Air Care, Pierz Fire Department, and Sullivan Lake First Response Team assisted at the scene.
