(KNSI) – Public school test scores in Minnesota are largely unchanged from last year.

The Minnesota Department of Education has released the 2024 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment test scores. The numbers show that just under 50% of Minnesota students meet or exceed the grade-level standards for reading. Just over 45% of students statewide passed the math standard, and just under 40% scored acceptably in science.

This year’s results are identical to last year’s but are well below the numbers posted by Minnesota students before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The St. Cloud Area School District 742 was well below the state averages. In math, 25% of students are proficient. In reading, it was 34% and in science, 25% reached or exceeded the state standards.

The Sartell-St. Stephen School District beat the statewide averages with 66% of students meeting standards in math and 64% in reading. The data shows that 57% of kids in District 748 passed the science standards. All three scores are up from the last time the test was given.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice school district was below the statewide average in math and science while slightly above average in reading. Their students were 38% proficient in math, 47% in reading and 38% in science.
