(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Fire Department is asking teenagers and young adults to take a chance and determine whether they want to be in public safety.
Experienced professional firefighters will give students between 14 and 20 years old hands-on experience. The training is for anyone who wants to be a firefighter, fire inspector, fire investigator, or forest fire prevention specialist.
Fire careers include a diverse range of roles dedicated to the prevention, management, and extinguishment of fires and emergency response services. A career in fire service demands physical fitness, bravery, and a commitment to continuous training and public service. The program is based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience.
Learn more about the training during a special meeting at the Boy Scouts of America Building in Sartell on October 5th. Classes will take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month from October to August. There will also be chances for ride-a-longs.
Central Minnesota Council Scouting America sponsors the class.
