(KNSI) – A barn in North Fork Township suffered only minor smoke damage after the owner quickly acted until the Brooten Fire Department arrived.
58-year-old Brian Kollman called in the incident at about 10:50 p.m. Monday. He told dispatchers that he could see flames inside the building and that livestock was at risk. He rushed across his property to find some wet hay bales had gone up. Kollman used a garden hose to stymie the spread, saving the cows.
Kollman was relieved by firefighters who were able to put the blaze out completely. Also assisting at the scene were the Elrosa Fire Department and Glacier Ridge Ambulance Service. No people or animals were hurt.
