(KNSI) – A man was arrested after allegedly robbing a gas station in Sartell at knifepoint.

According to a press release, the Sartell Police Department was called to the BP Mini Mart on the corner of 1st Street Northeast and Benton Drive on Sunday morning. The suspect allegedly demanded cash, pulled out a knife and fled with several thousand dollars in the store’s pull tab money.

Investigators reviewed surveillance camera footage and identified the perpetrator. Officers say the 57-year-old man was in the store the day before playing pull tabs, and they were able to come up with a name based on the vehicle he was driving. Surrounding agencies were notified of the robbery and suspect.

The man was arrested at a convenience store in Sauk Rapids while playing pull tabs a short time later. He was taken in without incident. He’s in the Benton County Jail awaiting formal charges.
