(KNSI) – Two local law enforcement officials will be honored at Sunday’s Minnesota Twins game.
St. Cloud Police Officer Colton Richter and Stearns County Sheriff’s Deputy Ethan Schwinghammer will take to the diamond at Target Field as part of the 2024 DWI Enforcer All-Stars. Schwinghammer has been selected before.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety picks roughly 60 officers, troopers, deputies, and prosecutors who have cracked down on impaired drivers. DWI arrests are most commonly associated with alcohol, but marijuana, other illegal narcotics, and prescription medications can all contribute to danger on the roads.
The All-Stars made 4,533 DWI arrests last year, about 1/6th of the 27,192 apprehensions that occurred statewide. Those selected are divided between the Twin Cities region and Greater Minnesota. Schwinghammer had 92 arrests. Richter tallied 47.
