(KNSI) – A new tool is available for Benton County residents to explore crime data in their neighborhoods.

It’s the LexisNexis Crime Data Map.

Community Crime Map data and other information comes directly from law enforcement agencies so it’s easier for the public to stay informed about crime. The company works with each agency to set up an automated feed of the data from their crime database into the map database. Selecting an incident shows the source of the information, the reporting agency, and the date and time when it happened.

The map allows for a search with coordinates or an address. There is an option to select what types of offenses to look up, the buffer zone around where to look and the timeframe. Data can be shown in a grid form or on a map with charts to show trends, times of day when certain crimes are committed with a space to sign up for crime alerts.

See the map here.
