(KNSI) – A new fundraiser will let you get a sweet morning treat while helping the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office support the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Minnesota.
The sheriff’s office has teamed up with Dunkin’ Donuts for the Cop on a Rooftop event. While deputies won’t literally be on the roof, they will take part in the event for the first time. Patrol Deputy Chad Meemken heard about the program and wanted to bring it here. “Now that Dunkin Donuts is open and fully functional, I approached our folks from Special Olympics Minnesota and asked if we could get involved with it. We’re just trying to get into another fundraising event to raise funds for Special Olympics Minnesota.”
Deputies will be stationed at Dunkin’ Donuts, 3317 Division Street in St. Cloud, where they will accept donations from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday. A command post will be set up to take cash, check and credit card contributions. Meemken explained those who give will also receive. “If you make a donation of any amount, you get a coupon for a free donut. If you donate at least $10, you will also get a coupon for free medium hot or iced coffee.”
The department also participates in Special Olympic fundraisers, such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the Polar Plunge, and Tip a COP.
The sheriff’s office hopes to collect around $2,500.
